2023 All-American

Each year USA Triathlon (USAT) announces All-Americans for each sport, age group, and gender. Each race is scored with a calculus type formula and many times the scores may not match what you think they would be and that is on the plus and negative side. With that said, it’s not a perfect system but gives a pretty good indication of how you match up with other competitors.

To be an All-American, you must be in the top 10% of athletes in your age group. I’ve been competing in duathlon for five years and 2023 marked my fifth consecutive year earning the honor.

In late May, USAT released the final rankings for 2023 and I ended the year ranked #1. I am fortunate with how the rankings played out and know this is a once in a lifetime result. There are other athletes in my age group who are faster…I simply had a couple high scores. With all this said, I know I earned the All-American status and fortunate to receive the #1 ranking.

Of all years, last year was a year to score as I was the rookie in the age group. Already this year the competition has been outstanding and racing so fast. It’s all great to compete and just do what you can do in your control.
