The Healthy Giraffe Event #2 – How Not to Die

I thought it was going to be hard to top the first Healthy Giraffe Event but we may have last night. Wow, we had so many great dishes prepared by all, we laughed at The Happy Pear once again, at ourselves numerous times, and learned How Not to Die by Dr. Michael Greger.

Check out these resources for the two main dishes:

Both dishes were served over brown rice and both received RAVE reviews. I’m glad Jenn and Chris offered to leave the leftover Kung Pao Chickpeas as I was going to feel bad not letting them out of the place with them.

One recipe I’m always looking for is a Caesar Salad. I think the mission may be over after we got to enjoy Elia and Eva’s creation via The Genius Kitchen. Now I have one for home and if you want what I consider the best one out, go to Cider Press Cafe in St. Petersburg. Morgan’s favorite too so if you don’t trust me you can blame her.

Who says two of the fastest fellas in Tampa Bay can’t cook – thank you Anthony (tasty hummus) and Michael (delish bruschetta)! You will see the incredible delights via the pictures below. If I receive more recipes I’ll provide an update.

This event highlighted one of my favorites, Dr. Michael Greger, as he was featured on an episode of Kelly and Ryan January 11, launching his new cookbook, How Not to Die Cookbook, not to be confused with his New York Times #1 Best Seller, How Not to Die. Not only that, he is speaking in Ocala on February 25. Check out the Events page for more info on it if you are interested.

We made one of the desserts from his new cookbook, a Chocolate Almond Truffle. Pretty darn good…. That along with Dave and Heather’s famous brownies hit the sweet tooth just nicely and it was loaded with blueberries….Dr. Greger would have been so proud!

We almost needed some tissues from some of the funny stories shared to end the night. We’ll copy the Vegas rule, what happens in the Giraffe Den stays in the Giraffe Den.

Thank you Betty, Michael B, and Steve for all your food/cook preparation and recipe scribing and Keith for all the preparation there, prior to the event and finishing off the leftover brownies and Chocolate Almond Truffle…..ok, maybe that was me…..I could not stop eating them……

Can’t wait for the next one…
